AT-43: No one Escapes War! is a science fiction tabletop wargame using 28mm miniature figures and terrain to scale developed and
published by the french company Rackham. Released in December 2006, the game features pre-painted plastic miniatures of mechs and infantry units with corresponding cards showing the stats and gameplay options for each unit type.
The first published product in the game line is the starter box "Operation Damocles" which comes with (abridged) multi-lingual rules. The game also boasts a new "interchangeable-parts" feature that will allow player to reconfigure
their models, although the first wave of miniatures in the starter box are only partially suited for that since most of their exchangeable parts are glued in place, and the alternate parts are not provided.
D&D Miniatures The Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game (DDM) is a collectible skirmish miniatures wargame game played with pre-painted, plastic miniature figures based on characters and monsters from
the Dungeons & Dragons games. Unlike Dungeons & Dragons, which like most role-playing games has players playing the part of a single character, the Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game is a miniatures wargame in which two
opponents pit armies of units against each other. In order to allow rule adjudication without a Dungeon Master, the DDM rules are simplified from Dungeons & Dragons' combat system, with a few additional features unique to the
skirmish game.
Star Wars Miniatures
In
Star Wars Miniatures, there are currently 10 different factions available for play. They are Rebel, Imperial, Republic, Separatist, New Republic, Yuuzhan Vong, Old Republic, Sith, Mandalorian, and Fringe. Each game requires that each
player chooses one of the above factions to play as and then builds a squad using miniatures from that faction. The only exception is Fringe, which is a "neutral" faction, whose figures can be used in any squad. Players agree on a
point total (100, 150, and 200 being the official standards) and create a squad.
Warhammer 40K
Warhammer 40K is a science fantasy game produced by Games Workshop. The game depicts combat between the armies of the fictional universe of the 41st millennium using 28 mm scale
(approximately 1:65) miniature figurines which represent futuristic soldiers, creatures and vehicles of war. Lines of these miniatures are produced by Games Workshop and Forge World, and are available at Jesters. There are currently
eleven rival factions to choose from. The ethos is well summed up by the game's subtitle slogan: "In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war."
Warhammer
Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles, formerly Warhammer Fantasy Battle and often abbreviated to Warhammer, is a tabletop wargame created by Games Workshop and the origin of the Warhammer Fantasy setting.
The game is played with 'regiments' of fantasy miniatures. It uses stock fantasy races such as humans, elves, dwarfs, undead, orcs, goblins, vampires, as well as some more unusual types such as lizardmen, skaven, etc. Each race has
its own unique strengths and flaws; Wood Elves, for example, have the most powerful archers in the game but have poor overall defense.
WARMACHINE/HORDES
WARMACHINE is a tabletop wargame produced by Privateer Press. The game is played
with white metal miniatures manufactured by Privateer Press representing military characters from the Iron Kingdoms D20 Role Playing Game setting. Battles are fought between Warcasters from rival kingdoms, the large steam-powered
warjacks that the Warcasters control, and troops consisting of humans and fantasy races. HORDES is the name of the newest 30mm tabletop miniature wargame produced by Privateer Press, announced at Gen Con 2005 and released on
April 22, 2006. Although a completely standalone game in its own right, HORDES was designed as a companion to WARMACHINE, Privateer Press' flagship miniatures game. The games are 100% compatible, and share much of the same rules
set, although the most important mechanic - fury for HORDES and focus for WARMACHINE - remains unique to each. HORDES forces and WARMACHINE forces often face off against each other both on the tabletop and in the background fiction.
The games share the same setting, the Iron Kingdoms, with much of the Hordes storyline taking place in the wild areas away from the 'civilized' areas where WARMACHINE's major action takes place.
